NEWS SUN STAFF REPORTZION — A recent Navy retiree was killed Friday afternoon when his car collided with a tractor trailer truck on Lewis Avenue at 27th Street.
The victim was identified as Carter Perry, 39, of Zion by Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller. Perry has no family locally, he said.
The truck driver was injured in the crash and was flown by helicopter to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The nature of his injuries was not known. His name was not disclosed.
Zion police said Perry was driving west on 27th Street and the truck was southbound on Lewis Avenue at about noon when the vehicles collided. Perry was alone in his car. No other details of the crash were made available.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.
Perry was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
As of Friday night, no charges had been filed by Zion police. The crash is still under investigation, a report said.

Yes, well he was a late starter (smoking, that is :o) I think he was 30? Used to tease him myself...if you go THAT long why bother starting? I do not personally know you however, judging from U R blog, you must have cared about him as much as I did.
